Occam’s razor

Yesterday, when I was reading A.I. lecture notes for preparing mid term exam, I found an interesting topic, the Occam’s razor. It is a simple principle noted by English logician, William of Ockham. The principle is called in Latin as “lex parsimoniae”, law of parsimony.

“entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem” (latin)
(entities must not be multiplied beyond necessity)

“Pluralitas non est ponenda sine neccesitate” (latin)
(plurality should not be posited without necessity)[i]

Simply it means “All other things being equal, the simplest solution is the best.” When many principles competnig each other with same coverage, the most uncomplicated one is correct one. it has many justification in many fields, also applications. From science, statistics to religion.

Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate - plurality is not to be posited without necessity

Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate - plurality is not to be posited without necessity

For my own opinion, I have a statistical point of view. Uncertainty derived this principle. If we took a theory with lots of explanations for uncovered issue, it means it also have a chance to fail with its unmature expectations.

Hasty anxiety, that’s what I want to say with this theory. Why so serious with every possible situations that can happen or not. It doesn’t help you to prepare yourself for the future.

As a result, I started not to make a large complicated plan. Instead of it, I usually short and flexable plan with many free times. Or.. no plan at all, but It doesn’t seems to justify my laziness.

p.s. The razor means the act of shaving off away unnecessary conditions of a theory.

Smile Brightly

beautiful smile

beautiful smile

When I found the left picture in the internet. I said “Wow!” It might be from some movie that I don’t know. I downloaded this picture as soon as I saw. I wondered the title of the movie, but soon I gave up to find it.

Bright smile. I love it.

The smile, what makes me also smile back, is most prettiest posture that human can have, I think. Many people would agree on this. However, it is a little bit difficult to have one.

I realized this fact few years ago. Soon, I found myself has a flawful smile. I smiled in some way that I cannot not say nice. Especially, taking picture, I sucked. It looked so wierd.

I want bright smile that makes people happier. No need to be very charming one, because I know I’m not goot at it, so I tried to make some smile just not being unnatural. Searching for some articles about the smile, I soon found a guideline to make nice smile. The keypoint was natural. I need to relieve my muscles on the face.

I saw a how-to movie many times and practice with the mirror; Not very intensely, just by the chances did I. You might say it is very funny. However, I really loved bright smile. In that time, I desired that. It was so beautiful that I hesitate to compare with most aesethic paintings. You know, my so-called third major is aesethics, the study of beauty. I really like beautiful things.

Soon, I also found this bright smile cannot obtained just by facial practice. I need to be more positive, have more elegant personality. So, it is not gained very fast since the personality is hard to change and I’m not fundamentally bright person. But now, I know my nowadays’ photo is better than pasts. If I see the album, I am very happy to see the change.

Bilingual Blog with New Butterfly Favicon

I’m not good at English. I believe I started to getting rid of some fear to use it, but I still have some hesitation when I’m talking in English. However, for now, I got some reason to write postings in English. I have a friend who can’t understand Korean.

Butterfly is one of my favorite living in the world.

Look at the colors of its wings of left picture. It is so fashionating that I can’t merely say in my clumsy English skill.

I also want to say that the movement of butterfly is very elegant. The rhythmical movement remind me some kind of dance-especially the one from France-may be some sort of waltz.

I like those things, beautiful colors and aesesthic motion of it, very much. However, what I love is a life of butterfly.

The metamorphosis, breaking out from old. Complete new start with same essence.

It starts life with an small egg. Soon, It became larva. In this era, it is not pretty at all. Just like other worms it crawls.

After long long gluttonous state, it changes its appearce once again. The pupa, having a long long sleep waiting to be an adult.

Finally, it became the most elegant creature in the world. It has beautiful wings and elegant life-drinking waters and dancing in flower field. I would say this life was gained from ugly and long enduraring period.

That’s why I love this creature. And that’s the reason why I’m using the butterfly picture as my favicon, the small icon of my blog, the one you can see just left my blog’s url in web browser.

I’m larva now, I’m very hungry and thirsty. Or may be I’m pupa now, but not an adult. To become a pretty butterfly, I will endure some hardships in nowadays.

In a same way, I started to write my blog in English. Actually it’s bilingual.
